Le
onde
Gli
dèi
Gli
atleti
L’incendio
Gli
uomini
Le onde
Onde del mare, onde sonore, onde magnetiche, onde
eteree. Suoni, parole, segni, segnali. Colori. Coda del pavone-Angelo
messaggero. Cibo-sesso.
Parole-immagini, colori-segnali.
Cartelli. Avvisi. Inviti. Seduzioni. Prendimi. Mangiami. Odorami. Me ne fotto.
Tranelli. Etica-estetica. Labirinti. (1)
Gli dèi
Gli dèi. I semi-dèi. Gli eroi. Le corazze dorate. Gli
scudi.
moderne. Eroi antichi, eroi moderni. Miti. James Dean, Marlon Brando, il Che. Figure. (2)
Gli atleti
Il corpo dell’atleta. Il disegno del corpo. I
muscoli. La gloria. Non coprire, mostrare. L’imprescindibile rapporto con il
corpo umano della T-shirt. Tatuaggio-corpo, corpo-tatuato. Esplosione,
contrazione. Forza. La squadra. La tribù. Il singolo. Agone. Agonia. Gli atleti-guerrieri.
Marines. (3)
L’incendio
L’incendio. L’urto. Il
proiettile. Il bersaglio. Draghi e fiamme.
In un pugno stringo la maglietta. Il tramonto dell’ideologia. Gli anni
’60. L’intimità esposta (ossimoro). I gay. Le lesbiche. Il femminismo. I neri. Il sesso libero. L’identità. Il
genere.
capo intimo. Distinzione-appartenenza. Seguire l’esempio o differenziarsi fino
all’eccentricità? Esistenza come oggetto di elaborazione e di percezione
estetica. Trans-etico-estetico. (4)
Gli uomini
Gli uomini. Il poema e il
tempo. Fatum. (5)
…
l’altro/i.
L’indumento è superficiale, come
Come
emettono richiami seducenti, lusinghe sessuali, offerte e domande…
(2) Eroi
discorso riguarda l’estetica quanto l’etica, soprattutto a partire dagli anni
animali, i volti parlano.
The waves
The gods
The athletes
The fire
Humanity
The waves
The waves of the sea, sound waves, magnetic
waves, ethereal waves. Sounds, words, signs, signals. Colors. Peacock's
tail-Messenger Angel . Food-sex. Advertising. The T-shirt is a serious matter.
The T-shirt is a thing. An object that shows itself: an object-subject that
speaks, on par with votive vessels of pre-Greek sicana memory. Words-images, colors – signals.
Signs. Notices. Invitations. Seductions. Take Me. Eat me. Smell me. I don't
give a fuck. Traps. Ethics-aesthetics. Labirynths. (1)
The gods
The gods. The
demi-gods. The heroes. The golden armor. The shields. The Greco-Roman truncated
statues: the perfect T-shirt. Origin of the term t-shirt: the T shape of the shirt, the T of Training, the T
of tee (amputee). Ancient divinities, modern
divinities. Heroes of old, modern heroes. Myths. James Dean, Marlon Brando,
Chè. Figures. (2)
Athletes
The athlete's
body. The design of the body. The muscles. The glory. Do not cover, show. The
essential relationship between the human body and t-shirts. Tattoo-body,
body-tattooed. Explosion, contraction. Force. The team. The tribe. The single.
Agone. Agony. The athletes-warriors. Marines. (3)
The fire
The fire. The
bump. The projectile. The target. Dragons and flames. In a fist I clench the
shirt. The decline of ideology. The 60's. Intimacy exposed (oxymoron). Gays.
Lesbians. Feminism. Blacks. Free sex. Identity. Gender. Naked nudity, at times.
Baring life. The edge of secrecy. The intimate is turned inside-out, the
intimate is shown, from top to bottom. The private is political. Bread and
roses. The T-shirt becomes such when it ceases to be underwear.
Distinction-membership. Follow suit or distinguish oneself to the point of
eccentricity? Existence as an object of processing and of aesthetic perception.
Trans-ethical-aesthetic. (4)
Humanity
Humanity. The
poem and time. Fatum. (5)
---
(1) Reference
is made here to the universe of signs, signals, messages in which humanity is
immersed. Covering ones nakedness a person intentionally opens to the
relationship with the other/s. The garment is the new contact surface. The
garment is superficial, like skin, yet it is a place of emergence for what lies
beneath (within) as well as a projection screen of what's outside (on). The
garment as T-shirt is like a second skin that can tell us something of the
wearer in an even more intentional way. It is an ever-present, self-propelled
signal in the varied urban horizons. The
great-granddaughter of the cotton undershirt, it redesigns the body, exhibits
it. At first only white or striped, it becomes a surface to fill. To talk about
oneself, to declare, to expand, to contract. To propagandize, to give witness
to the quotidian. To express a sense of belonging, to stand out. As the signals
and messages emitted naturally by plants and animals, T-shirts emit seductive
calls, sexual enticements, offers and questions ...
(2) Heroes and
gods are represented through images, but the various images show single
figures. The T-shirt as an object of worship is owed primarily to the
cinema. The initial context is that of the 1950's when the youth feel a strong
need for a means of personal expression which contrasts with the rigid social
norms of the time. New myths and new "deities" affirm themselves,
divinities in T-shirt, jeans and black leather jacket. A long history begins, the history of the
T-shirt, which intersects social phenomena, cultures and subcultures,
substantiated by mythical figures of the world of cinema, music,
entertainment and fashion.
(3) It is
interesting to investigate the hypotheses about the origins of the T-shirt.
Most of them converge on accrediting solely the military environment as its
actual place of origin. Among the many stories, there is that which tells of
American soldiers during World War I who had noted that the Europeans wore a
t-shirt under the uniform to protect against sweat and moisture. The
undergarment attracted interest from the U.S. Navy which adopted it as
appropriate for training and for work. The other context in which the T-shirt
was lucky is that of sports, acquiring a new element: the coat of arms.
(4) The
question is as much about ethics as it is about aesthetics, especially since
the 60 's. In June 1960 there was the revolt of the young people with the
striped shirts. Seemingly noncommittal and individualists ("there were
called teddy boys") they demonstrate otherwise, by demonstrating. The game is between the person and the
collective, between the individual and the organization. The scenario is
illuminated with new subjectivity.
(5) Fatum. This
ancient word connects the poem with time, spreads out the stories and directs
them toward the future. After all the T-shirt is itself metaphor for the life
of women and men, in their inescapable singularity and in the plurality of the
subjects which, like waves, are moved by invisible currents. After all, it is
the person who clasps her or his life with language. A phrase, a word, an
image; alone they can constitute the anti-matter of the world. There are many
other things in the world that speak...nature, the sea, the wind in the trees,
the animals, faces...all speak.
